The Natural Shaker Kitchen
is for people who really appreciate English pipie oak. You will see a
wide variation of grains and the knots will range from the small pipie
(cats paw) right up to knots with a diameter of 2".
This kitchen can be used in a traditional setting or as
shown in a modern environment with the use of stainless steel rod
handles, stainless steel sink and chrome down-lights.
The granite in this picture is Bon Accord, which is a
dark granite with good reflective properties.
The sink area has been brought forward to break up the
long run of units. |
By stepping the run of units out for the sink and
introducing hand-turned gun barrel pillasters on either side, it breaks
the long run and allows more space behind the sink. You can also see how
linking the two wall units with the overhanging pelmet and cornice we
were able to introduce additional lighting for the sink, which removes
the problem of working in your own light.

This picture also shows that the use of granite work-tops makes it easy
to keep clean while giving a nice finish. |
The English oak dresser shown is a good example of how to
maximise storage area in the kitchen or dining area and still have a
feature unit.
The
reduced depth drawers on the counter top are ideal for cutlery, etc. The
unit below has a solid oak work surface and gun barrel pillasters on
either side.
The three layers of cornice on top of the dresser are not
overhanging as far on this piece to give it a more traditional look, the
sides are oak panelled, giving a quality finish. |
 |
The cornice has been
mounted on two layers of solid oak over-hanging the wall unit top by
240mm to allow down-lights to be fitted. This
provides a subtle pool of light down the cabinet, this feature draws
your eyes up the unit. |
